05 Aug Avoid excessive weight gain in pregnancy

Eat healthy for a healthy pregnancy.
Pregnant women who “eat for two” and gain too much weight are at greater risk of having complications than those who stick to a healthy diet. Obesity increases the risks for both mother and her baby according to the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists (ACOG).
For the baby-
There are increased chances of Premature birth, big baby (macosomia) and operative instrumental delivery and stillbirth risk.
For the pregnant woman-
There are increased chances of preeclampsia / high blood pressure in pregnancy, Gestational Diabetes and caesarean.
Staying on a healthy diet while pregnant is a safe and effective way of avoiding gaining too much weight, researchers found.
